AfriLabs is a pan-African innovation-focused organisation that works with over 400 innovation and technology hubs and other stakeholders to raise successful startups and entrepreneurs that are developing and deploying innovative solutions to African problems through the adoption of technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • – Managing, planning and designing the programme and proactively monitoring its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action. 
  • – Ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the programme – focusing inwardly on the internal consistency of the programme, and outwardly on its coherence with infrastructure planning, interfaces with other programmes and corporate, technical and specialist standards. 
  • – Leading the programme’s budget, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realized benefits as the programme progresses. 
  • – Ensuring there is allocation of common resources and skills within the programme’s individual projects. 
  • – Reporting the progress of the programme at regular intervals to all required stakeholders as required.
  • – Partners engagement support; creation of MoU and partnership agreements with project participants, partners, consultants etc.  
  • – Creation of project communications materials. 
  • – Support the overall coordination of the AfriLabs Secretariat team in project implementation. 
  • – Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of projects. 
  • – Developing, managing programmes budget, monitoring expenditure and costs against approved budgets and deliverables. 
  • – Facilitating the appointment of individuals to the project team, overseeing the hiring of additional consultants according to specialists’ tasks needed, working with partners, etc.
  • – Ensuring the delivery of expected outcomes and impact to the appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the programme plan and programme governance arrangements. 
  • – Manage projects’ schedule, prepares reports and monitors deadlines, managing communications with all stakeholders. 
  • – To file all project documents in an appropriate database.
  • – Identifying opportunities to expand projects with additional funding. 
  • – Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities: 

  • – Knowledge of the African innovation, technology and entrepreneurship space.
  • – Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • – Good knowledge of adaptive project management techniques.
  • – Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
  • – Proven problem-solving and proactive decision-making abilities.
  • – Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • – Effective prioritization and multitasking skills.
  • – Capability to perform under pressure while maintaining high standards of delivery.
  • – Adept with information communications technology (ICT) commonly used in office applications, with good knowledge of Google Drive applications, Dropbox and Microsoft Office products.
  • – Being bilingual with proficiency in French is considered advantageous.

Qualifications & Experience

  • – A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with relevant academic background in project management. An Msc/MBA  is an added advantage.
  • – Professional qualifications in project management.
  • – At least 5 in overseeing the design and implementation of high level projects on a Pan-African scale in the non-profit sector.

Location: Pan-African

Employment Terms: Full-time 

Working time/days: 9 AM- 5 PM; Monday to Friday

Working Style: Hybrid
